I like my Honda/ Acura wagon, too bad everyone buys a Rav4 etc.. when they don’t need one.

To be fair, there’s no business case for anything in the US at the moment.

Though, I do think its weird how such an SUV and crossover-obsessed market will still buy a good number of notchback sedans, but won’t touch station wagons with an 8ft pole.

It’s not that we won’t touch wagons, it’s that most of the wagons available to us wear upmarket badges (Allroad, TourX, V90). Those were never gonna sell in high volume anyway but all the automakers still point to their sales numbers as justification not to bring middle and low market wagons here.

The Optima is a solid car and if we ever got a wagon it would totally get a spot on the list of cars I'd consider if I ever broke out of my cycle of buying 20yo beaters

I have a friend who held onto his for years, he cleans offices and airplanes at night, needed something that would hold his equipment, and he refuses to drive anything bigger than a compact. Eventually traded it for a Honda Fit when old age maladies set in.

The sad thing is they all think they need one so they can sit up high.

I think what America needs is more roundabouts.   If we had more roundabouts,  a few additional people would value cornering which might take the small SUV market down a notch or two..

Those were underrated vehicles and they ran forever, at least in the land of no rust. I have a friend with one and it still looks pretty good.

That is true, I think it all escalates because you get a bunch of SUVs and you can’t see past them. In SF I can’t see much with all the trucks and SUVs, but it drives a whole lot better outside the city.

True, we have several but mostly very expensive! The Subaru is like a CRV in disguise as a wagon, it’s just about as tall, smart Subie. The Only VWs I see are loaded 4Motion models that can’t be cheap either. We used to be able to buy entry level Volvos but I don’t think they exist anymore. When I was in college my friend bought a new Volvo wagon and it had almost no options, I doubt you can do that now. It just feels like they are for rich people who still want a wagon and probably own a big vehicle to go skiing with. BMW must have finally had a drop in wagons replaced by X3s etc.. But there are quite a few here in Marin, I live in the exact place people buy Volvos, Mercedes AMG wagons and Audi is making a big comeback around here. There were so many Porsche SUVs here I think some people wanted to try and be unique but they are flooding in now!

Ye', I thing VAG do at least 13 for the U.K. for Skoda, VW, SEAT and Audi, not including other marques and cars available outside the U.K.
